The Garfield “Bulldogs” Men’s Lacrosse team was founded in 2001.  The team quickly distinguished itself as a tough underdog, capable of standing up to bigger and more well-financed suburban teams.  The Bulldogs reached state quarter-finals on four occasions since their inaugural season and is the only team to have received three Sportsmanship Awards.  Last year, the Bulldogs made it to the semifinals, loosing to the eventual winner of Division II (Woodinville) which then moved up to play in DI.

The Bulldogs will be returning an experienced core of Juniors and Seniors as well as a fresh influx of experienced underclassmen for the 2012 season, and should prove to be one of the stronger presences in the Metro South program.

Garfield alumni have moved on to major college lacrosse programs, such as those at Saint Lawrence University, The University of Maryland, Texas A&M and The University of Albany. These players have often come back during the season to help out, either as an assistant coach or as fans.

The team’s head coach,
Ryan Kelly, was voted Coach of the Year in 2005. Ryan also serves as Youth Lacrosse Coordinator for the Central Seattle Wolfpack, an affiliated middle school program. Ryan and his wife Tracy have recently welcomed their first child, daughter Kylie, this past fall.
